NEWS: That closing date is not so very far off...   06-DEC-2018

Well done to those who have got their entries to us ahead of the deadline - we're enjoying reading them!

But we've had a few questions which we'll list with their answers here in advance of the closing date, and we hope they help you move towards your goal of submitting a folio of work for The Pushkin Prizes 2019.

We've received a few queries and as several are duplicates we thought it would be useful to post answers for everybody.

1. There's no lower word count limit. Because you can write in any genre, you might choose to submit a haiku as one of your three pieces of work - and a lower word count limit wouldn't therefore make sense.

2. We used to limit the number of entries being sent per class, but that is no longer the case. If every pupils wishes to enter, every pupil is welcome to enter.

3. We accept hand-written submissions if they are written in black ink, and if the handwriting is legible. We photocopy entries for the judges - and pencil doesn't photocopy well.

4. If you've written something inspired by something written by somebody else (a poem, a novel, an article), it's important that you credit that somebody else.

5. When we say you can write in any genre and on any subject, we mean it. Enjoy the freedom!

7. If you want to submit more than one folio, you're welcome to do so - but be very sure that you're happy with what you've included. One strong folio is preferable to two weaker folios.

6. Yes, the closing date is 20th December. All writers love a deadline. (That's not true, by the way.)

And just to prove that we do a great deal more at Pushkin Prize-winners' Week than write all day, here's what you could be doing next summer!
